Thoughts About Astrology

A Facebook friend was reading about astrology and became curious about Joshua’s thoughts on the matter. She was especially interested in the ideas that a planet going into retrograde could be responsible for violent upheaval.

It is my honor to share Joshua’s point of view and what I learned from him on this subject. However, dear readers, Joshua and I are NOT informed or educated in the matter of astrology. We offer our point of view as another way of seeing this topic. We respectfully accept and love followers and teachers of astrology. Joshua and I accept astrology as a belief system that is as valid as other guiding principles.  

Joshua taught me this: The positions of astral bodies have influence within the manifest (physical) cosmos, and our bodies are physical, so they are a part of the cosmic dance. The movement of stellar bodies effect electromagnetic (unseen) energy fields of the sun, moon, planets, and beyond. Our energy body is inseparable from the physical body, so the changes created by movement in the unseen electromagnetic fields affect our physiology.

However, as the conscious creator of our personal and global reality, we have the freedom to recognize what is happening in our energy field and physical body, and make the choice to transcend an unproductive trend. If viewed consciously, a retrograde stage is only a recess – a rest period from typical electromagnetic energy patterns.

From Joshua’s point of view, it is irresponsible to use the positions of planetary or lunar bodies as an excuse for disruptive behavior. That attitude is a completely blind manner of surrender. We are energetic (spiritual) beings with physical bodies. As an awake human dancing in gravity, we have the ability to transcend mindless behavior when it doesn’t serve our personal and collective well being.  However, if we are asleep, it is easy to say things like “The devil made me do it.”  Or, a person feeling powerless, who is looking for a reason for our social ills, may say, “It’s Mercury in retrograde that made the people act so violently.”

To the awakened being, victimhood of any type is negligent. Electromagnetic fields do not control consciousness. Consciousness, including the unseen spirit that animates our physical body, is formless and not subordinate to physical matter. But, it is not separate from it either. The formed and the formless interact in concert to manifest a lifetime.

When viewed from Joshua’s perspective, astrology is localized and fixed in time. For example, when astrology was developed, this canon of belief didn’t include the position of this solar system in relationship to movement within the galaxy, which also affects electromagnetic fields in the star system.

From Joshua’s view point, the position of cosmological bodies has minimal effect on the mind, yet mind is connected to physical manifestation, and physical bodies sense and respond to electromagnetic energy. People are an inseparable part of physical creation. Just as the sun and moon and beyond have effects on our beloved Earth, astral motion has effects on human bodies. All appearance of separation is a perfectly designed expression of the One. Each of us has the freedom to follow our chosen beliefs, and that is perfect. If I believe my astral chart formed my reality, this becomes my truth. This is not right or wrong, it’s simply my truth.  

Joshua thanks you for your interest in his opinion. I want to repeat that Joshua and I do not claim to be trained in the subject of astrology.
