A story…
One morning I was surprised to receive three extraordinary gifts.
The first gift I opened was a telescope. The card attached said, “Telescopes see into the past. The starlight kissing the telescope lens and dazzling the eye began the journey lightyears ago.”
I understood this telescope would provide clear images from my past. Memories from our journey sometimes dominate our vision and obscure our awareness of the present. Nonetheless, our past contains jewels. In the past we experienced moments of joy, love, and peace – precious gems indeed. However, our history also includes unwelcome memories that hurt our tender heart or confuse our mind. I accept that my past shaped the person I am today, and I am grateful for that. We recall our past to remember the best moments and to consider the lessons learned on the journey.
The second gift is an anchor. The card says, “This anchor holds you securely in the present.”
Receiving this gift, I feel deep joy knowing that the present—the moment of this breath, is the only time in which consciousness exists. I take a deep breath and know that this moment is when the power of choice is present. I recognize that the choice I make right now determines what I think and how I feel. Mindful power and life energy exist only now. I take another deep breath absorbing this anchor into my body and mind. From this moment on, to bring my attention to the present, I simply take a deep breath. My breath is my anchor. It is always here in the present.
The third gift I opened was a crystal sailboat. A colorful and beautifully decorated card says, “Board this ship with imagination and sail joyfully into the future.”
I am excited and delighted with this gift of wonder! Imagination is our power to create. Having a vision or a mission leads us onward adding purpose and joy to life. I know that where I am and where I wish to be are fused together, so I take the anchor aboard with me. The anchor reminds me not to spend all my time sailing here and there. It’s wise to be still, and the benefits of presence are valuable. The freedom to chart my course onward using my imagination is cherished beyond words.
I closed my eyes for a moment to give thanks for these gifts. Suddenly I saw a vision of the three items perfectly balanced. On one side of the scale is the telescope and on the other side the crystal sailboat. In the center, bringing balance to it all – an anchor in the present.

Past
Present

And What IF They All Are Happening At The Same Time…..?????!!!!!
HOW IS TIME MEASURED????!!!
Jordan
Thank you, Tina, for asking this insightful question. It is my opinion that only the most serious students of the nature of reality ask questions this deep. Always listen to your inner guidance. You are on a fascinating journey of awakening.
I will reply to you from Joshua’s teachings of oneness explained in our book, The Seventh Major Understand–A Message of Awakening. Simply put, now is the only moment in which consciousness exists. Yes, past, present, and future all happen now. There is no other time than this moment and now is eternal and infinite.
How is time measured? A lifetime is experienced (mainly) in the physical dimension that consists of the three dimensions of space and the fourth dimension of time. (Time was identified as the fourth dimension by Albert Einstein.) While living a lifetime, time is experienced as a measure of distance. Examples, the Earth makes one full revolution every day, our planet revolves around the Sun every year, going from one location to another is seen as traveling over distance, and that movement takes time.
During a lifetime, we are moving over a linear distance from birth to death, and time appears to travel in one direction. Joshua calls this the river of time. Here is an excerpt from The Seventh Major Understanding to help you observe the river of time.
“While we are having a lifetime, we reside in what I call the river of time. Let’s explore this river together for a moment. Imagine that you are in a small boat floating on a river. From your position in the boat, you can look back and see the course of the river you have traversed thus far. You may even have drawn a map showing landmarks you have passed. You may look forward and anticipate what lies ahead, but your forward view is short as the river bends and there is no map available. Nonetheless, you imagine that the river flows beyond the bend and the landmarks ahead and the river’s course is unknown.
Expanding upon this analogy, I would like you to imagine that the small boat begins to rise out of the river and floats high into the air. Imagine that from this vantage point you can look down at the river of time. As you do this, you will see that the river is beginning and ending at the same moment. You can see that the river of time flows from its source and terminates simultaneously. You may see branches flowing from the river of time that all begin and end now. From your lofty position, you realize that you are free to enter the river of time at any place—it is all available now. Once the boat returns to the river, you flow with the current. You can see where you have been, and you can look forward to where you are going. It is not important to remember that the river of time starts and ends at the same moment—now. Nonetheless, there is value in being mindful of the moment you enter the river of time—and that moment is now.
If I may play in the river a little longer, I want to draw your attention to this awareness: our ability to observe the river of time happens in one location—and that place is called here. Picture for a moment that the boat, in or out of the river, is your consciousness. Consciousness exists here now. There is no other place or time. The word “I” equals the words here and now. The mind may imagine going to a place called “there” and being in a time called “then,” but I am always here now. There is no other place or time “I” can exist.” (end book passage)
Thank you for your great question, Tina. I do not claim that my response is the only answer, nor do I call my insight “The Truth”. I would enjoy hearing from you again if you have other questions upon which we may comment.
May your journey be joyful, and may you feel deeply loved.
Let the light grow. Let love show. Let life be fun. And, always be true to you. ~ Jordan & Joshua
