“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” – R. Buckminster Fuller. These words inspire and guide us, the teachers, healers, and leaders of our global awakening.
The simple and powerful process of transformation dwells within you. Direct your focus on what you want to change in your life. Let go of thinking you can change someone else—that is the path to utter failure. Be mindful that the only person you can change is yourself. Then, by your example, you influence change all around you. This model of transformation is both successful and influential. Owning responsibility for changing one person, myself, frees us from unnecessary stress and heartache.
Additionally, our personal life becomes richly fulfilling as we are engaged in creating, practicing, and implementing new attitudes and behaviors. The focus is on how I want to transform my life, and how I want to model transformation for others around me. Conversely, dwelling on what we judge to be wrong with another person, our family or our society results in creating more of the same—nothing changes, in fact, it may seem worse. In our understanding of how change is created and sustained, we lovingly focus on what we want.
Joyfully modeling transformation by creating and building a structure that supports a love-based reality is a fun game to play. We do our best to be living models of a new way of life filled with abundant compassion, peace, happiness, and health. When we stumble and make mistakes in the learning process, we forgive ourselves and begin again. We strive to be gentle with ourselves because new skills require practice and perfection is never the intention. Accepting our need to walk before we run reminds us that an occasional stumble is a part of learning.
Awakening and transformation are happening now. In this time of change, we easily release our expectations of perfection for ourselves and others. To the best of our ability, we let love show. This simple practice renders the existing fear-based model of reality obsolete. Remember to let it be fun. We laugh and love our way into a new world.
